There are a few steps needed before landing a job, selling a product to a client, forming a business partnership, or even making new friends. Success in these situations isn’t just about having the right skills, the perfect pitch, or an impressive resume.

A recent business deal got me thinking about this post, and I wanted to share a few observations—adding to my experience from all these years of working with people.
The high-level idea was simple: pitch to a client that you are the right man for the job.
Do I consider myself an expert in this area? My honest answer is no. Do I believe I can successfully complete the task and ensure the client gets exactly what she wants? Absolutely yes!
