The God of Dreams
He granted me the opportunity to grasp real responsibility before embarking on my journey into fatherhood, setting me up for success. I learned what it meant to set aside ego and personal needs to serve others, to give without expecting anything in return.
These past few days haven’t been the best in our lives, and let me explain why.
It’s that time of year when schools close for summer break, and my wife and I decided to create something special for the kids. We wanted to spend quality time together as a family—going to the movies, making dinner collectively, and truly connecting.
The word “family” holds a unique place in our hearts, and, from my perspective, there’s no room for the adjective 'extended.' You’re either family or you’re not.
But soon, our family dynamic will change.
You know, when we decided to move to Ireland six years ago, we had everyone’s best interests at heart. But there was one family member who stayed behind in Greece—the ever-loyal Morpheas (or Morpheus, named after the Greek God of Dreams), our beloved dog.
Instead of joining us on our Irish adventure, Morpheas found his own little haven with the grandparents in his established 'mansion'. Back then, we weighed all the factors: the logistics of a temporary move, the constant back-and-forth, the whole airport experience for our furry companion, his senior age, and the snug apartment awaiting us in Ireland. These considerations played a pivotal role in our decision-making process.
